A Child's Garden of Verses

When did your child start to enjoy this book?

Which version do you recommend?

I was going to get this for my son with a book gift card, but reading the poems, I am beginning to think he's too young to appreciate it.

We have an out of print copy from my mom, and I just put it out on the shelf for my 3 year old son. He really likes it, and will often request a few verses. I can't imagine that he understands a lot of the language, but something about the rhythm of the verse appeals to him.

We have a used copy that I got from a library book sale. It has illustrations by Gyo Fujikawa. DS2 will be 3 this month and I took it out for him a couple of months ago. He really liked it even though he did not understand all of it. He does like poems in general as he's always been interested in other poetry books that I've read him.
