I want to buy a car seat cover-up as a gift for some friends who just had a baby. I want one like this http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3922375 which only goes around the top of the car seat, not a Bundle Me type product that also lies under the baby's back.

1. Has anyone bought the one linked above, which is summer weight? I want it for now, January/winter, and it's not clear from the photo or description how summer-y this is. Any thoughts?

2. Any suggestions for these? Looks like Target sells a quilted NoJo one and a double-zipper one from Baby's Cosy World. Anyone seen the double-zipper one and know if it fits the newer infant seats that exceed 22 pounds? I am pretty sure the NoJo one does. I'll probably get that one, but am open to suggestions.

Are you sure that one is summer weight and not just by a company named Summer? It talks about keeping the baby warm. All the summer weight things I've seen are more for keeping bugs out, but I haven't really looked either.

For winter, I have this: http://www.takeastroll.com/snuggler.htm and it fit my Keyfit30 and a SafeSeat, but was a tight pull to cover the SafeSeat with feet hanging over the edge. I think it fits the seat fine, and can try it, without my 18 month old in it. But his feet hang quite a bit and make it harder.

I think the company is Summer Infant. I can't imagine putting a baby in one of those during the summer! :)

My MIL bought ours from Lands End, but I don't see them on their site now. They were easy to get on and off, but more importantly they stayed on when we wanted them to. Ours had a flap that we could cover the baby up all the way, which if you're dashing out to the car in freezing temps doesn't sound so crazy. The flap Velcroed back. They were super toasty, the girls didn't even need jackets in there.

That's a winter weight one....the company is called Summer Infant...I've seen a very thin one for summer time that is more mesh like to keep insects away from baby but it's much different looking.

That's a good explanation that the company is called Summer Infant, but I don't think it's correct. I found the same item on the Kiddpotamus website, http://www.kiddopotamus.com/p_posh.php, so I think they are the company.

I am thinking that the thicker ones (which Kiddpotamus also sells) are with sherpa or polyfill and this one, since it is "just" fleece, is more lightweight, although I agree that calling it summer weight is pretty silly.

I am going to get the quilted NoJo one at Target. It's pretty and easily returnable if they don't like it.

Kiddopotamus is a subsidiary of Summer infant.
