Severe headache while taking prednisolone

Tyler has been taking a large does or Prednisolone for the past 5 days and has 5 more on it to help with a recent severe asthma attack. He has been complaining about his head really hurting him since Sunday. I didn't really put 2 and 2 together but I am wondering if it has something to do with the steroid. Anyone have experience with this? I was looking it up and it said to contact our doctor as soon as possible but not immediately if you experience headache. I am home alone with 3 kids and don't really want to make a trip to the ER but I am a little concerned.

WWYD? Call the doctor tonight and pay the large fee or wait unitl the morning?

I haven't experienced this with my family, so I hope some more people chime in. But I'm wondering if I'm reading your message correctly: will you be charged if you simply call your ped after hours? Because I would definitely call and I haven't experienced charges from any dr or specialist for calling after hours.

I haven't experienced this with my children, but can tell you I have been on prednisone and got a headache from it. I would still definitely call the doctor though, especially with a child.

I can't believe they charge you for that, that's terrible.

I experienced something similar when prescribed prednisone in high school. I felt like my head was going to explode. At the time, I was told to stop taking it because it was an unusual side effect. Not to alarm you, but they did said it was possibly brain swelling. They've always treated as an 'allergy' since then, although I don't think it's really an allergic reaction.

I'd definitely call and see what they say.

Yeah...they charge us to call and speak with the doctor. There is no nurse line...just a direct doctor line and you get charged for calling it after hours. I am thinking I should go ahead and call.
