I got the JJill catalog in the mail this past week and have been eying a few things. But I've had mixed experiences with JJill quality in the past so I'm wavering. I'd go and try on for sure to be sure I really liked the things. Anyone have thoughts on JJill's quality?

Here're a few things I'm thinking about (I likely wouldn't get all these things):

I haven't bought anything recently from them, but I do remember that their clothes run big. I usually wear mediums, but needed a small from J.Jill

like so many places, I think the quality isn't what it used to be - it varies from piece to piece - I wouldn't pay full price for their stuff. Sizing is also funky, since they cut things to be oversized, etc., so trying on is really important.

I would also point out that while they used to do a lot of machine washable stuff, they have shifted to the other side now and have lots of higher maintenance stuff, which I don't buy. Just not practical for a SAHM. Pay attention if that is an issue for you.

I guess that unless there is a single piece or two that I absolutely love, for say, a signature piece kind of thing, I'd think twice. Their t-shirts used to be so great, and the ones I've had recently have either pilled or gotten holes....

To sum it up, some of their styles look great in catalogue, but don't work well for me in real life due to laundry/durability issues, esp for the prices they want. At that price, I expect top-notch quality.

Thanks. I think I'll skip it. Maybe one or two of the pieces I like will go on sale in a couple of months and will be worth it then. I appreciate the feedback!

I have three items from jjill. Two sweaters and a pr of pants. The pants held up great (if I could fit back into them again after baby #3), but the sweaters looked awful after a few washings. I actually wanted to take them back after the first month I had them, but never got around to it (mall is an hr away). I think that their catalogue makes their clothes look really nice, but I find that the fabric is just not that nice in person.

I often like things in the catalog, but only will buy at B&M because of fit issues (tends to run really big, but not on everything). Also, if I think I like 10 things in the catalogue, only 2 will actually be pretty and look good on me in store. So, not reliable at all......that said, I have a few pieces that I love love love (mostly wearever).
