We're trying to cut back here and have been eating in on Friday nights. We've been doing pizza nights b/c it's fun for my 3 year old but now I need a change. I was thinking of hamburgers next week but was wondering if anyone had any fun take-out type dinners that they enjoy making. And if you have recipes to share, please do!!!

Not really something we usually "take out" but how about "taco night"? With a fun fixins "bar"?

This egg drop soup (http://www.foodrenegade.com/egg-drop-soup/#more-220) recipe is really easy and SO good.

Back when I meal planned, my Friday nights were home made "fast food" nights. Turkey burgers and roasted new potatoes (or frozen french fries ;) ), left over chili with hot dogs, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas. We also enjoy making less traditional pizzas. For example, if we had fajitas during the week, I will take the leftover chicken and onions and put that on the pizza (mix salsa with tomato sauce for the base, and do like a cheddar jack for the cheese.

Stir fries are also pretty quick and easy. Quiches, sloppy joes, or just make your own sandwiches!

I serve a simple salad and maybe some fruit with most of these.

You could go to a website like this one

http://www.topsecretrecipes.com/recipes.asp

and look to see if you could find some of your favorite eat out recipes and make those for your take out nights.

My kids go nuts for burgers and rice and broccoli. It's easy and quick.

We also do taco night. Sometimes it is just individual nacho plates. I also do an asian stir fry served with potstickers from the frozen aisle. My older DS loves it. I buy the fried noodles and serve with duck sauce for dipping to make it fun.

My kids really love sloppy joes, probably too, b/c I let them have something munchy with it like baby carrots or chips. It's easy, quick and cheap. I like the recipe, "Hodies sloppy joes" from allrecipes.com.

Thanks everyone! I love eating out so I really need to entertain myself/make yummy food to not be miserable. It's hard to please the palates of 2 adults, a 3 year old and a 1 year old but these suggestions are great! I appreciate it!

How about a stir fry of some kind?

I found a recipe online a while back for a mongolian beef similar to the one that my DH loves from Pei Wei.

Another quick & yummy - we love the Trader Joe's chicken eggrolls. Bake them up along with a side of TJ's fried rice & maybe some steamed broccoli & you've got a pretty quick meal.
