Quick trip to the BBB Mojo well...Happy UPDATE in #22!!!

Today we go to UNC-Chapel Hill to have the ped. ortho look at DD's hips again. She has DDH and mild torticolis. Last time, the hip sockets were within range and ligaments were good, but the balls of her femurs were delayed in forming.

Hit me with your P & PT's, BBB'ers! I am more nervous about this than I thought I would be. DH goes to Afghanistan in June and I can't fathom my spirited and wild and willful toddler in a spica cast AND without Daddy. I worry it will kill her spirit.

A bucket of Mojo and a bucket of prayer coming your way. A few thoughts... I wore a cast for underdeveloped femur balls, and it didn't break my spirit. :banana: In fact, my mom said it wasn't a big deal at all. My dad didn't even remember I had a cast!

DD had 3 of the 4 risk factors, so we went there (at the ACC I assume) and saw Dr. H several times. DH noted he didn't scrub his hands before touching our baby. Then he learned to call out doctors for skipping that step. :nono:

Hello all! Once again, BBB mojo is powerful stuff...

DD had a good visit with her pediatric ortho!

The balls of her femurs are finally (a little) visible and her hip sockets are deeping as they should.

She is on the low end of "normal". While the balls of her femurs are delayed in growth, there has been enough significant change over the last 6 months that her Dr feels they will continue to develop and she will catch up!

She still has to be monitored every 6 months for another year or two and then again in puberty. But at this point, if things keep progressing, then we won't have to worry about braces or surgeries!!!!

I don't really care that she is on the low end of "normal"...she is still "normal" (well, as much as any kid of mine ever could be!)

Thank you all for you well wishes. And the tips on Chapel Hill! We celebrated by playing for an hour at the Childrens Museum and then having lunch at The Weathervane (Southern Season). Of course, a stop at Trader Joes and REI in Cary were in order on the way home. I prefer the TJ's in Chapel Hill, but DH *needed* to go to the sale at REI that started THAT day. I mainly bought stuff for DD (two hats, some socks...and a toy SHE picked out...a Lego Man flashlight she adores and calls "Gee Go" (pronounced like the french "Gui"...)
