We're leaving for Maui later today. I'm planning to bring the Scenera for DD and Turbo booster for DS. I'm tempted to only bring the bottom half of the turbo booster for DS only because it seems so much easier. He's 6 years old, about 53 lbs. and tall for his age. Is he still too young? If I do go backless, how do I strap him in? I remember the TB came with a little strap for backless purposes, which I have in the closet. Any advice for me? Should I just suck it up and bring the whole seat? Thanks!

I'd go backless. Try it in your car to see if you even need the little strap thing, most kids that big don't (it's just to pull it half an inch to the side off his neck, really). If you're doing lots and lots of driving (Road to Hana?) bring the back in case he needs sleep support.

I'd go backless. One less thing for the airline to damage!

Another (late) vote for backless. Have a great trip!
