DD and I are driving to socal for winter break and our portable dvd player died last night while i was trying to charge it. :( we're leaving tomorrow am, driving about 6 hours (330+ miles) so i usually let dd watch one movie. i need a replacement asap. any recommendations? sales? etc. would like to stay under $100 since we just had to replace our home dvd player...
TIA

We have a double screen panasonic that we love...and a single sony that we like too. I think it's hard to go wrong with them.

We have this one from Sony, and it's been great. It's been dropped and abused a bit, and never any problems.

Or you can now get the 9" screen for less than my 8" one:

Sonys are generally great. I would just go to Target or Costco and see what's on sale since you don't have much time to shop around!

Another thing to consider is buying a netbook. You can store many movies on it and the battery life is way better than a portable dvd player. If you use the audio out (headphone jack) you can play the sound on the car speakers, too. I recently bought one for a plane trip and have been using it for everything but watching movies! Prices are about $250 retail, but I got a steal from the Dell Outlet. Might not work if you have to have it tonight, but food for thought....
