I did a search and didn't get much... I am looking for reusable bags that can hold messy stuff (like the nylon lined ones) and some to hold dry stuff. It's a plus if they are dishwasher friendly.

TIA!

Which "brand" do you prefer? I searched the boards and couldn't find any that people really loved... I actually know one of those sellers IRL!

I don't know anything about the sellers but I will add that it can be frustrating for little ones to open the velcro without some little tabs to pull. When i made some I added some little fabric loops to pull apart and it makes it easier to line up the back to close it securely. Oh and I would suggest ones lined with PUL for the safest waterproof but I run mine through the washer.

Can't wait to hear more on this. Reusable bags and sandwich wraps have been on my "list" for months now. Every time I look on Etsy I get totally overwhelmed.

Not etsy, but I can vouch for the sacks at www.snacktaxi.com. Handmade, good quality, can go in the washing machine or even the dishwasher (so said the care instructions-- I haven't wanted to try it!).

I love Mamamade's bags on Etsy. Cute patterns and DS can open and close them.

I might convo an etsy seller to see if the fabric is 'safe?'
I only mention it bcse snack taxi makes a point of saying how theirs are safe on their website (own about 6 and love:heartbeat: them!)

the following is from here
http://www.snacktaxi.com/faq.htm

"SnackTAXIs are lined with a waterproof material that consists of nylon with a polyurethane coating. After talking to many manufacturers of this product, we understand that this type of coated nylon is free of heavy metals and phthalates. We have found a supplier of this coated nylon who has had their product extensively tested. The tests revealed that the nylon is free of heavy metals (including lead), phthalates, PBBs, and PBDEs."

:yeahthat: There is discussion about PUL and other waterproof fabric being food safe.

Yeah, I have had concerns about PUL, etc used for food, although the material sounds like it would work really well for that. I was thinking about just making some myself with 100% cotton....but that certainly wouldn't be as convenient.

If you are up for making your own, here is a tutorial using mylar bags as the liners.

I decided to use PUL instead of ripstop nylon, because the nylon, which is a plastic, will come in direct contact with the food. With PUL the coating is on the back of the fabric. The cotton facing is what actually touches the food.

I try and only use the PUL backs when I have things like grapes, freshly washed carrots, greasy things etc... otherwise I use the bags I made with fashion print cotton on the outside and undyed muslin on the inside.

ETA-- If you google "snack bag tutorial" you will get lots of hits with a few different methods.
