I can't remember when DD1 did this. I know she was completely done napping by 2 1/2. DD2 is 13 almost 14 months and is still taking two solid naps, I don't see her giving one up anytime soon. I thought DD1 was done with that by this point but I know all kids are different. Just out of curiosity when did your DC go from two to one nap?

We recently just transitioned to 1 nap at 17 months. I decided to do it because each of our girls' two naps only lasted 30 minutes at most, and they would play or cry in their cribs for 10-15 minutes before falling asleep. AND, one of my girls would wake from her second nap CRANKY. As in, screaming nonstop for an HOUR even if I held and rocked her. I thought that maybe the short lengths of her naps just weren't long enough for her to feel "refreshed" even though she was getting an appropriate amount of total sleep.

Switching to one nap helped a lot!!! It was a hard transition though - I couldn't put them in the car or go anywhere until after their single nap or they would be guaranteed to fall asleep and screw it up. And keeping them distracted and occupied in the morning when they got tired and cranky was tough. Even now, after a few weeks, they still get a little cranky in the mornings around 10am (the time of their morning nap when they were taking two naps). I hope that in another few weeks that will pass. Now, they take one nap at 12:30pm that usually lasts 1-2 hours (usually closer to 1 hour). They fall asleep quickly and wake up in a MUCH better mood.

I think DS1 gave the morning nap up around 18 months.

12-14 months for my dd#2. she doesn't need as much sleep. for dd#1, she could have easily taken two naps until she was 18 mo, but unfortunately she was in daycare and had to make the switch to one at 12 mo.

My two were very different. DS1 started skipping morning nap by 9 months. Some days he needed a small catnap in the morning and then would take the afternoon nap, but definitely by 10 months only one per day.

DS2 still liked his two naps until 14 months. I forced the change on him over the summer.

11 months.

:yeahthat: DD was done with morning nap just before she turned 11 months. Then she dropped afternoon nap at 19 months. She still doesn't need nearly as much sleep as any of her peers. sigh.

a little over a year for both of mine. DD will fall asleep in the car if we're going somewhere at 10/11 (gym/church) and the 10 min nap does her good! But otherwise she naps 12-2 (sleeps 8 to 8). DS napped in the afternoon until 3.5. Sigh, I miss his naps lol!

I think around 13-14 months. Although she is over 2.5 and still takes a good 2-3 hour afternoon nap.

Although she is over 2.5 and still takes a good 2-3 hour afternoon nap. My 3 year old still naps 2-3 hours too!

DD1 took 3 good naps a day at 1 year old. So she gave up one of those shortly after her first birthday and then the second nap she gave up at 18 months. DD2 gave up the second nap at 14 months. Now at 2.5 she is almost ready to give up that one.

14 months. But probably could have done it slightly earlier... I had read somewhere that it was "better" to hold on to 2 naps as long as possible. I shouldn't have worried, things got much easier when we went to 1 nap.

DD gave up her morning nap right after thanksgiving.....she was about 20 months old.........I swear there are still some mornings I could probably put her down in the morning for a nap. She just loves to sleep!
Her friend gave up his morning nap way before she did, so I really do think each kid is different.
I think DD will keep her one nap for a while (which I'm really excited about because DC#2 will arrive in august and an afternoon nap for all of us would be really really nice!!)

DS is in the process of dropping his morning nap now (he just turned 11 months), he takes a 30-minute one occasionally but it seem that it won't be much longer until it's gone altogether. I am actually happy about this, as the next "semester" of swimming lessons for his age group, which starts in early April, is only offered at 10am, and we'd have had to skip it if he was still taking 2 naps.

dd dropped her morning nap right around 1 year, and took a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoons. Unfortunately for me, ds never took 2 naps. He only took 1 nap and dropped that at 2 1/2.

Oh..my! I tried to remember now. I think my DD gave up morning nap when she was about 18 months old. I thought I manupulated that so I could get out and about in the morning and have my time when she took morning nap while her brother went to pre-K in ther afternoon.
