IMHO no. We did the soothie pacifiers.

I remember reading somewhere that if you breastfeed and use pacis, you should stick with pacis that are close to the real thing, not othodontic. I don't think it makes much difference if you bottle feed.

Ultimately, go with what your baby likes.

I BF DD1 for almost 20 months and she only took the Orthodontic Nuks. Hated Soothies. Sadly, DD2, who is also BF'ed, won't take any pacifier and we've tried 4 different brands. Thus, there isn't a good rule of thumb, at least in our experience.
