Very off-topic, but input would be helpful! I sort of need glasses to use primarily for driving at night (extremely mild prescription, one eye only). How important is an anti-glare coating? I have been told by the eye glass shop that I need it, but it is expensive.

Many thanks!

It's necessary. I just don't know how effective the anti-glare coating is. Also, how "necessary" is a matter of degrees too.

DW just got new glasses with the coating. I'll ask her to wear it one night and what she thinks.

For me, I need antiglare in the daytime, which is why I use polarized sunglasses. Don't have a problem at night.

It was offered to us for DD's glasses and we declined it, it was $130 or so and insurance didn't cover it. Now when DD starts driving then I'll most likely consider it.

I know that I am in the minority but I hate anti-glare coating on glasses. They always talk me into it and I always regret it.

I have it and love it, primarily for night-time driving. My eyes aren't that bad (not legally required to wear glasses for driving) and I use mine just as much for the anti-glare help as for the vision correction. I don't know if regular non-coated glasses would help as much, but the difference between naked eye and anti-glare is substantial for me.
