Thought I'd share a possible birthday idea for older kids.

Home Depot sells a variety of party packs for around $95. Each party pack includes 12 kid-sized HD aprons and 12 project kits. The projects available are birdhouse, tool box, bean bag toss, firehouse bank, and trivet kits.

Oooh, I loved playing 'hammers and nails' when I was little. I can't wait for DD to get old enough to do a party like this. She already loves playing with her little plastic tool kit...:yay: looks like fun!

Ooh. cool. Says "simple enough for an 8 yr old" so we'll tuck that away for a while.

Yeah, there is that part! FWIW, DD and DH have been going to the kid clinics at HD ever since she was 4yo. Granted, at that age she wasn't doing a whole lot of the constructing!

I really think the appropriate age could be younger than 8 if you had a whole lot of adult supervision!

I think it's a really cute idea. I had no idea that HD had those available. I wonder if Lowe's does, too...

Some of our playgroup friends have also gone to the HD and Lowes FREE Saturday clinics as well. These kids are all about 3.5 yo. We haven't taken DS only because of various scheduling conflicts.
