s/o: finding a reputable jeweler

talking about rings, reminded me that i haven't had my setting checked in awhile. the jeweler that made my ring moved out of the area so i need to find someone new. any suggestions on how to find a reputable jeweler?

Word of mouth. Particularly by people who understand jewelry.

There's a guy I like in the Los Angeles area. Otherwise, I'd go to a place like pricescope.com and ask for recommendations in your specific area.

Do you have a very special piece or something? Otherwise, you can just check yourself. Just buy a simple loupe on eBay or something and do it yourself. The jeweler should really only step in to fix any problems. You should do your own inspections.
