I just had DD2 and am searching for a new diaper bag. I love purses and really want something stylish but very functional. This is what I've been looking at, but unfortunately, there isn't any place around to be able to try any of these on, so I'd love your comments and suggestions. I want something that I can use as a diaper bag without having to carry my purse and something that I will use for a while - even could use for work. Any other suggestions are welcome, but I do want to get something soon. Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

My vote is for the Skip Hop Studio Tote. I love mine. I looked at the Oi Oi and a Babymel Amanda (not the zipper one) in BBB and didn't like either. The SH was less expensive and had much more, IMO.

I have a BabyMel Amanda, and I like it a lot. It has been discussed a lot here, and you can probably find the old threads by searching "babymel".

Have you seen the new Ju-Ju-Be bags? They're coming in a new fabric called Earth Leather, which is a washable version of leather! And I think they look pretty stylish! You can check them out on the JJB blog - www.ju-ju-be.com/ju-ju-blog - they're available in about 1-2 months!

I love the JJB patterns and in particular, I like their messengers and backpacks.

Check out the Fleurville Sling Tote also - I've had one for 5 years and bought a second one recently. It's very comfortable and they have my most favorite prints.

The Babymel is very pretty IRL but I thought the seams looked a little cheap. I haven't owned one so I'm not sure if they hold up well or not - anyone else?

Happy shopping!

I had an old style Babymel Amanda in the heavier fabric and loved it, but wanted a change. I sold that one and ended up buying a Grey Zipper one about 2 weeks later because I missed it. I do like the zipper one, but it's definitely lighter weight material and doesn't seem as "sturdy" as the other one. It will work for me though, and I got it for $55, so I'm OK with it for now.

I highly recommend checking out the Babybags group on Yahoo. Beware though, it can be addicting...I joined about 4 years and 60-ish diaper bags ago.

This isn't out yet, but what about the JJB Be Fabulous? It comes in black & brown leather. They are taking pre-orders now.

I ditto on the JuJuBe Legacy collection.

Also... did you look at the Nest bags too? Kate Spade makes them non-diaper bag looking ones as well.

Another vote for Jujube you can't go wrong!

My other love is the VersaPurse by Kristi G. May not be suitable for a very young baby but I love the shape, size, light weight, stain-resistance, and its smart-casual looks and definitely suitable to carry to work. It isn't very big and does not have sufficient interior compartments but you can always reorganize your stuff into small zipper pouches. http://kristig.com/products-page/bags/versapurses

TBH that Go Ga Ga slide bag was my first diaper bag and picked it only because DH said he would carry it. And then he didn't! I wasn't fond of it. In photos it didn't look half as bad. In person these were my first impressions:
* looks like an amputee
* very heavy when empty
* too short to be worn across body and I'm 5'5" size 6 so not tall at all!
* so much padding that the interior is pretty small
* zippers are not smooth enough to be opened/closed in one go

After using it for a while I found the bottle pockets aren't truly insulated. The insulation only goes halfway and the rest is actually the thin inside lining material so liquids revert to room temperature much faster than expected.

Moreover it's a brand that gives free bags to celebrities, even pays them to use it by holding parties just for them. Don't trust a brand that does this kind of underhanded job, trust brands that are personally bought by mothers!
