DH is planning to buy a playset kit (that comes with most of the wood) from Home Depot this weekend. I have found other options for him, including some local people who assemble them and everything (even in the price range of $750 - $1200). However, DH feels strongly that he can do this himself with the $700 kit.

So, now I am turning my attention to the experts out there! Do any of you have a playset from Home Depot? I think the brand is Swing-n-Slide. If so, what are your thoughts about it in retrospect (how is it holding up, how sturdy is it, etc.)?

Thanks!

We have it & love it! It is very doable for your husband to do it himself (assuming he is somewhat handy) but he may need some help & it will take the better part of the weekend. Make sure he reads the reviews & suggestion online. We got the longer pieces of wood than suggested otherwise the swings are 2 close to gether. We have had ours almost 3 yrs & its still in great shape

We bought one of the no-cut sets in early 2007 and have been very happy with it. It looks good as new, the kids love it, and DH had no problem at all assembling it by himself. I think I only had to help for a few minutes! The plans can be found here: http://www.swing-n-slide.com/timberbilt/playsets_nocut.htm (at least for the one we bought--somewhere on that site!) I did call the company to ask about extending the swing arm and they were really friendly and helpful. We used one of the 10% moving coupons. So no regrets here!

There is always the option of ordering a set of plans and hardware from a place like this too! You buy the lumber of your choice (cedar or redwood).
