I have a set of 4 stainless canisters I got at the Target less than a year ago. Today, the bottom of the sugar canister fell off when I lifted it off the counter. While it was full of sugar:angry-smiley-005: I am pretty pissed because these canisters were over $10 each, and I expected them to last a lot longer. No more. So I'm going to replace all 4 before another one falls apart.

Does anyone have canisters that they love? It would be nice to have two that can hold an entire bag of flour, because that was another thing about these canisters that bugged me. Actually I wasn't able to find any at Target that could hold that much. I'm willing to pay a lot more if I know it'll last forever. Having a large mouth is preferable, large enough to get a measuring cup/scoop in and out. We use flour very often, so I'd like some ease of use.

I use a tupperware or ruubermaid container for flour now. Not glamorous so I keep it in the cabinet. But, I love that it is a square shape, large opening, holds a whole bag of flour, keeps things out and just works really well.

I use this one from oxo:

http://www.oxo.com/OA_HTML/xxoxo_ibeCCtpOXOPrdDtl.jsp?section=10764&item=78322&minisite=10024&respid=53057

Didn't pay that much, I bought several of them in different sizes at BB&B with some coupons. They are super sturdy and will definitely hold 5lbs of sugar, 5lbs of flour if you tamp down to get the last bit in. They are polycarbonate but since I'm not heating food in it I'm okay with it. I have two for flours, two for brown sugar & powdered sugar each, another for granulated sugar and a smaller for cocoa.

Don't have these but if I was in need I would go for these.

Oh, very nice! the Oxo ones are really not much more than the ones I got from Target. And I like that you can see the contents. But the Container store ones are really tempting! I was telling Dh eventually I want to line them up on the counter, which would be so much easier than lifting them down from the higher shelf, which is what I'm doing now. So I'd like them to match and look nice (usually I couldn't care less:p)

I like the look of the simple human ones (love their stuff) and if they'd been available then, probably would have gone with them if my scoops fit in there. Right now I have a simple human pull out drawer in my base cabinet that holds all my baking goods and I pull out, pop off a top and go to town.

I am in the market for a container for the charlie's soap in the laundry room and this one seems to fit the bill (easily opened with one hand, durable and not too heavy). Thanks for the tip infomama.

I have these, too. I like that they are BPA free. I went a little crazy after a mouse got into my pantry in our last house. I have them in various sizes for cereal, pasta, flour, brown sugar (it does a great job of keeping the brown sugar soft).

The Simple Human ones are nice looking, too!

I have some glass ones from IKEA. They aren't a set so you can buy however many you want of whatever size. I have two big enough to hold the whole bag of flour so I can store white and wheat and I have one smaller that holds sugar. I think they had an even smaller size too. I don't see mine on the website (mine have a glass lid with a silcone/rubbery seal). But they may still have them in stores.

My mom has similar ones, also from Ikea, and hers are on the website: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50081452 She's had hers for several years now and I've had mine for about 3 years.

I uses glass jars - they are the jars pictured on the right in this pic (http://www.anchorhocking.com/cat_10_organize.html). I can't find them on the site, but the large size is nice and big. I have 6 or 8 of them probably, for flours, rice, oats, etc. I have a couple of the medium size also. They are from Walmart. We've been using them for 4 or 5 years with no issues.
ETA: We've been using them a while but I know Walmart still has them because just a week or two ago I was looking at them in the store thinking about getting one more.

I forgot - we received these as a wedding shower present 10 years ago and do use them as well for some dry goods. DH bakes A LOT so we have a lot of flours, grains, and sugars stored, as well as lots of other bulk goods like rice, beans, etc.

We also use a variety of Mason jars, but they would not be big enough for flour (well, the big BIG ones we use might be but the mouth of the jar would not be wide enough).

I've had the OXO set on my wishlist for a while. Seems like I can't find the old square Tupperware ones I have from 15 years ago - and they were used and old then, but they're great. They are kinda like these (http://order.tupperware.com/pls/htprod_www/tup_show_item.show_item_detail?fv_item_category_co de=17000&fv_item_number=P10058363000) but they have red lids. Anyone seen a great price on the Oxo Pop set?

I just saw a 3 piece Softworks OXO set at TJ Maxx - $24.99 for 3 pieces. 1 Big Square (4.3 Qt), 1 Small Square Tall (to store spaghetti, lasagne) and 1 square short (1.1 qt).

I have a set of Pfaltzgraff canisters that match my dishes. I'm pretty sure I can fit full bags of flour/sugar in them, but it's been a while since I completely emptied a canister to see. They seal air-tight and are great.

Oh, I forgot to say that after posting, I did some googling. The 10pc OXO Pop set went on sale at Amazon for $69.99. I printed it, then ran to BBB. They PMed, but wouldn't take a coupon also. Once I used up those 10, I sent DH to get another set, but they wouldn't do the same deal a few days later b/c the Amazon price had gone back up.

We use these too but DH also bought some extras for potato chips and they are NOT airtight! The chips got stale. Just an FYI.

I love my Williams Sonoma canisters. I was tired of small conisters with narrow openings too. Finally decided to spend some money and get nice ones. Only thing I don't like is that they are labeled. My smallest one says "Coffee", but I don't drink coffee and keep brown sugar in it instead.

I have a few sizes of the Droppar series from IKEA (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/series/14360/). They are glass with a plastic lid. So far they've been great and they look nice on the counter. I love the look of those SimpleHuman ones though!
