dumb question about dyed eggs

Is it safe to eat dyed hard boiled eggs? Some of the dye usually seeps in under the shell.

Not sure, but I would assume they are edible food dyes (either homemade using food coloring or that ubiquitous egg dying kit made by Paas). I have always wondered this myself but have eaten them many times over the years with no ill effects (yet, lol) and plan to dye eggs and then eat them (my boys think it's sooo much fun and then will eat all the eggs).

I've been doing it for at least 30 years with no ill effects! The dyes are all edible/nontoxic.
