I remember seeing some crayons on a websit a long time ago (sometime last year maybe). They were egg shapped. The crayon was in the shape of a whole egg, or maybe it was a rock. I can't remember. I just remember thinking that it would be easy for DS to hold onto and color with because you could color with it no matter how you held it.

I have done some searching but keep just coming up with half egg shaped crayons that you can make yourself. These definitely were whole egg shaped (or rock) and you could buy them as a set.

TIA!

Note: They're small

Check out Stockmar block crayons. http://www.amazon.com/Stockmar-Beeswax-Block-Crayons-Set/dp/B001JE3RXI

A little OT, but I got egg shaped Chalk yesterday at Dollar Tree, 6 packs for $1. I'm making little bags for the nieces and nephews with those and whatever else I might find. I thought they would be nice for little hands and I was happy to find something artsy, non-candy, and cheap.

I was thinking of these too. We have a set of 3, and that's plenty before moving to the triangular ones that don't roll off the table.

ETA: that's not saying the triangular ones are not thrown off the table, they just don't roll. :)

Nope, we have these and these are the ones we DON'T like. DS gets very frustrated because he holds them on the side and tries to color or sometimes angles it wrong and it won't color. The because nothing is happening, he bites the tips off. I literally have 6 with the tips bit off (3 regular and 3 tub ones). I am thinking that the crayon rocks would be good, but I wish they were bigger. I like the size of the crayon blocks, but I don't like the shape of them, they seem awkward to hold.

Decisions decisions...

I can't help laughing at his solution of biting the tip off the useless crayons.

Elle, have you thought about making muffin tin crayons? http://www.makeandtakes.com/recycled-chunky-crayons

We have the crayon rocks and they're great. DS2 loves using them and prefers them over his Crayola crayons. They are small but are a good size for small hands. Definitely not for kids still mouthing items though.
