View Full Version : Names you just love?

I enjoy the naming threads, but I have a hard time suggesting things with certain constraints - needs to begin with an x, have 4 syllable, NOT have the long a sound, must rhyme with ____ and sound great with 3 siblings' names, etc.
Just off the top of your head, what are some names you always thought were nice but never used for whatever reason?
Ellory
Eliane
Jackson
are mine.

I love Jack for a boy and Angelina for a girl. Both are family names. If only Angelina Jolie weren't around, I'd have an Angie!

Ruth - my absolute favorite but a big no no on DH's list b/c he dated a Ruth for a long time in high school.
Genevieve

Isabella
Lilith
Connor - would have been DD's name if she had been a DS
James

Luke
Lian would have been our boy's name.
Amelia is my favorite girl's name that I'll never get to use because DH doesn't like the possible nickname Amy.
We're still completely undecided on the name for the little girl inside. The first one was easy!

FWIW, my mom's name was Amelia, and no one ever called her Amy. (I remember having a conversation with her about not having a nickname). It's not really a nickname for Amelia. I mean I guess you can shorten anything and call it a nickname, but it's not like Gabriella/Gabby, if you know what I mean.
I'm a big fan of the name Amelia obviously. :) One of my DDs has it for a MN.

i had the same thought... i :heartbeat: amelia! i knew an amelia growing up and no one ever called her amy... i wouldn't think of that as a nn for it at all. may your DH just doesn't like it and that's his excuse? if so, tell him the BBB has spoken and he's been overruled! ;)
needing the hubby to agree can really put a damper on the whole baby naming thing, can't it? don't they know that we know what's best? :ROTFLMAO:

-Gabriella "Ella" DD1
-Sofia DD2(I love sofia and always have but hate that I've given her the Jennifer of the 2010's. Oh well.)

Girls:
Catherine-Dad's ex-wife was Katie, so this one was out
Sarah-I love, love, love. DH doesn't. It's also the name of a neighbor.
Asia-I like this name but wouldn't give it to my real child.
Allegra-same as above, especially after it became an allergy med (i.e. I wouldn't use it after that)
Christine-but I like it more as a middle name (Sarah Christine)
Boys:
Jonathan-would have been my choice if DD had been a boy
Kevin
DH liked a certain girl's name, but it wasn't my favorite. We had a First Middle picked out, but I convinced him that we should switch them. I'm really glad because I like DD's middle name less all the time. I'm so glad it's not her first name. It also wouldn't suit her.
Oh, I really like Asia and I would use it. I know someone who's name is Kenya.

It's suprising to me to see McKenna becoming a girls name. Mckenna is the name of DH's brother and I was always told it meant "son of Ken". (DH's father is Ken).
I really like the name though.

I actually love my name, Karen, but my mom is Karen too and I just couldn't do that to a third generation. I did consider it though. And then I remembered all the phone calls where my dad would just hand the phone to whichever Karen was standing closest, which resulted in my mom talking to my boyfriend sometimes LOL. And the fact that some people in my family still call me "Little Karen" even though I am taller than my mom.
