View Full Version : Can I beg for a little mojo? UPDATE in last post

DH defends for his PhD in early May. He got 3 job offers in the past week or so and was hoping to hear from a 4th company. Today the 4th company said they are putting together an offer and he should receive it by the end of today.

The 4th company is the place I think DH would be happiest professionally. It doesn't pay quite as much as he might make elsewhere, but I think he'd really like the work. They also offer a lot of nice side benefits in terms of flex time and a lot of flexibility in general, which we value. However, we still need a certain number to make that job work out financially (would involve an out of state move, etc.). I'm not sure if they'll be able to hit that number, kwim? eta: it is also a small company, and to add us on to the health insurance plan is 10K, so we need the offer to be enough to offset that and provide enough for the COL in that area.

I know there are much larger, much more important concerns out there in the world, but if you wouldn't mind tossing some mojo our way, that would be great. I'm thankful he has a few offers in this economy, and truthfully any of them would be a great opportunity.

If you could spare a little mojo today as he awaits his offer, we would sooooo appreciate it. So much is going to change for us in the next week or two...3 of the 4 jobs involve an out of state move (with a newborn), etc. so life is a little hectic right now. He'll be making a decision in the next week or 10 days I think, so big changes ahead for us.

Thanks for the mojo so far. The initial offer is at least close to our ballpark number. If he can get them to up it a few thousand, he'll be a happy guy. If they can't up it, I don't think we'll be able to do it. Hoping they deal well with his counter. This stuff makes me crazy!

I really, really appreciate the mojo!!

Wow! Four offers in this economy! Mojo, mojo, mojo!!!

Thanks so much. He is an amazingly hard worker, and has the benefit of having entered grad school as a "nontraditional" student...he worked in industry as a chemist before going back for his PhD, so that helps a ton in terms of setting him apart a bit as a "new grad". He also had a pretty good network in place which was tremendously helpful.

I feel silly asking for mojo since I realize in this economy we should be sooo thankful regardless of what job he ends up with. I'm very, very thankful we have some viable options.

I do appreciate the mojo a ton. I feel a little selfish having even asked, but I'm so grateful that the BBB has been sending it our way.

More mojo is coming your way. I know how stressful negotiating a job offer can be, but the fact that he has 3 other offers should help with negotiations. Good luck making the right decision, and congratulations on 4 offers and upcoming graduation.

Yay!!! Glad it worked out! How totally cool. AND how totally cool you guys have a new baby, too. Life if just smiley over at your house, right?:bouncy:

Let me know a practical way I can help out, pretty please? Boxes, helpers, housecleaner referral, RE agent, etc. Do you have to sell your house first or move first? That Mojo is powerful stuff!

Moving to PA (family from there originally). I will miss NC but this is DH's dream job...working for a chemical instrumentation company. Great flexibility, flex time, etc. which is awesome with three kids right now. I think it is kinda DH's dream job.

Thankfully they are paying for "all reasonable moving expenses" or I would not survive LOL.

We'll be waiting to put our house on the market until we are out of here. I can't deal with showings and 3 kids LOL. That would be a one way ticket to insanity land for me right now!

We'll be renting for a year or so until this house sells. Not my ideal, but in this market, there isn't much alternative. Which means we'll be moving again with 3 kids (including a one year old LOL) but I'll cross that bridge when we're ready to buy ;)

Thank you sooo much for the Mojo. I'm so happy for DH. He has worked sooo hard.
