View Full Version : Teeny tiny bowls for dip?

For some reason, I can't find these. I want the tiny bowls (I dunno, 1 oz, 2oz) that are a good size for dip for kids. I saw something actually made for this but can't for the life of me remember what they were called. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

We have these:

http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Flexible-Silicone-Pinch-Multicolored/dp/B00080FPZM

We also have some small ceramic bowls that my MIL made for us in a pottery class.

What about the Glad mini round containers:

We use those for dip all the time.

Yes, I got ours at Crate and Barrel. I'm sure you can get them at any kitchen supply store. Nowadays you can even buy them in silicone or some such, so they're unbreakable.

They have some melamine ones too

Thanks guys! I actually think I have some of the glad ones that I totally forgot about. But I might just order the ones from Amazon since they are so cute. We just keep using our 4oz pyrex bowls which are way bigger than necessary.

I found those for a lot less at Sams. I think I only paid $1-$2 for a set of 8 or 12?

Check IKEA, I found some glass and metal. They may actually be on the smaller side of your specs, but I love them for honey, b/c then I don't have honey pooling all over the plate (DS thinks he's out of honey when there's not enough to dip in, he doesn't get the concept of scraping the plate and then you waste a lot of honey).

Really? Was this recently? I will check before I order them online. That would be awesome!

We don't have a local one, but maybe I will be able to check one out next time I'm out of town.

I like that size even better than my IKEA ones. I might have my sister pick some up for me.

Cost Plus World Market is an excellent source for this sort of thing also.

I got 6 of these
http://www.valuevista.com/home-kitchen/le-creuset-stoneware-7-3-4-ounce-2-piece-ramekin-set-red.html
La cruscet ramekins at Marshalls for about 10. They are great for dips as well as sides of rasins, nuts etc for oatmeal. Today I used them for parm cheese for the kids for their pasta.

Dang. How did you make me think I need these? DS is always asking for a "pile" of whatever the condiment is, and of course it is never big enough. These would be perfect for standardizing the requested "pile" for all the kids!

:rotflmao: I know. I didn't think I needed more little cups until I saw these.

Honestly I got them home and was like what in the WORLD will I use these for. I use them several times a week. They are also great for side of sauce or syrup or ketchup or whatever. I've also used them for ice cream toppings (portion control) and for small snacks (think of muffin tins solo). They are also super cute and take up less space in the dishwasher than bowls which is what I'd be using otherwise

I do have a gift for creating the need to shop. In myself, and others. It's a substantial gift. :rotflmao:

Yes, Melaine, I appreciate your gift. DH actually does too. He said these bowls will be helpful. BTW, do any versions of these have lids???? That would be helpful for stacking!

The Bed Bath & Beyond ones I linked above have lids. I don't have them, so I have no idea if the lids work, but they might be nice to have. Set of 6 for $8, so a bit more than Sam's, but still not too expensive. I don't know if they are in store.

I got the cups from Sam's. They are perfect, exactly what I was looking for. They were by the paper plates and stuff, by the way and in the catering supplies. $4.xx for a set of 12. Thanks everyone!

We have these little stainless dishes that look like they're for sauce. They are about 1.5" deep and flare out as you get to the top. I use them for the kids for dipping. I would love to get more, but Dh inherited them from the previous tenant of his bachelor pad, and I don't even know what they're called.

Just an FYI. I was at Walmart today and saw the SS condiment cups from the Sam's club link--pack of 4 for .97! My sister (who has the Sam's membership) hasn't been able to find them, so I was happy to find them at Walmart. They're by the measuring cups/tupperware.

Cool, thanks! DH has gone to WM twice in 2 days. He hates that place, and says they are rearranging the entire store - like the whole place has moved around each day. I should totally send him tonight for these, just because...

:rotflmao: I only go a few times a year b/c I hate the place, but I had some things on my list that I knew would be cheaper at Walmart. They're totally redoing ours too, and it finally is starting to look much better. It's funny how they keep the store open during major remodelling and move things around every day. Now, the aisles are wide and clean and bright. I haven't been in so long, I couldn't believe how cheap everything was--big box of cheerios for $2.50, $1 less than Target, organic cotton tank tops for $3, t-shirts for $4, jeans for $5. I know those t-shirts will last less than one season (the seams rip and they get holes, but the hang nice and are long for my tummy. I also got a huge wheeled cooler for $22.

A friend just found the SS cups at WM and called me, lol. But, no lids... I want lids... Have these been linked yet? http://www.amazon.com/Oggi-3-Inch-Diameter-Stainless-Airtight/dp/B002UA4MNY/ref=pd_sim_k_1

They may be big, though.

Those are the ones I bought at target! Same brand and size but my lids look a little different.
