Can I just brag for a second?

I'm kind of proud of myself today. :)

I've been into photography for a while now, and I try to work on it when I can (still very much an amateur though). Our local college has a photography exhibit every year, and anyone can enter their pictures for possible submission. I just found out today that six of my photographs were chosen! That's more than anyone else - and we have a lot of popular local professionals who enter this exhibit.

Anyway, I'm really excited and just wanted to brag for a second. There's no money or anything in it, it was just nice to find out that other people apparently like my stuff. :)

It's nice to have a hobby that I really enjoy and might actually have some talent with...I didn't really have anything like that for a long time after DS was born and it's nice to do something outside of my wife and mommy roles.

Yes, tell us camera details. I used to be kinda into photography but all I can seem to take are crappy photos lately. I'm blaming my camera. (In the pre-digital era I had an SLR. I guess I still have it somewhere but... film? Can you even buy that anymore?)

All of these were taken with my Nikon D40. I know the flower, couple, and horse shots were taken with my 50mm f/1.4 lens. I think the rest were with my 18-55mm lens. I also have a 70-200mm f/2.8, but it's a beast so I only use it if absolutely necessary. All pics were edited in Lightroom. :)

Sister, the only reason you can call yourself an amateur is because you haven't yet asked someone to pay for a photo. You have a gift, truly. All of those photos are lovely, both technically and visually.

I'd pay you for a shoot and schlepp to LA if you could make me look that good!

Seriously, this could be more than a hobby. Maybe something to consider in a few years when the DC are older. A friend of ours is a photographer, has his own studio and does head shots (we're in LA) and family shoots.
