What would you consider a good price for the large Duplo building plates? Amazon has 2 for $30. Should I go for it or keep looking?

what are you looking to do?
...because the math nerd in me thinks:
2 plates @ 15x15 = 450 sq. in. for $30 (http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-DUPLO-Large-Building-Plates/dp/B000GHDR1G/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3I175IBDD12ZP&colid=1A5C7G197KIV)
vs. if you wanted a bigger work space...
2 plates @ 12x32 = 768 sq. in. for $44 (http://www.nilotoys.com/acc.htm)

In all fairness, I got the 2 sheet sized Nilo block table (N35) with the sheets included for $85... love the fit of Duplos (and MegaBlocks!) on the mats :love-retry:

Thanks for the comparison. Really just a building surface for Dupols (on the carpet). We got a few small, megablocks plates with the Duplo lot on CL, but they're too small and don't lock as well as I'd like.

Awesome deal on your Nilo table. There are some people here who make homemade wood lego tables with plates attached for around $200. Would be nice, but I'm not sure how long DS will be into Duplos vs. regular legos.

ah, I see.
The large Nilo plates might need more support than a plush carpet could provide, but a basement playroom or such with thinner carpet might be fine -- the Nilo plates have the Duplo bumps on one side and then you flip them over to the Lego bumps on the other side (caught DH playing with his old Legos the others day... yes, he still has his...:bouncy: )

I was able to pick up the Step 2 Duplo table on CL for about $20. It has a work surface on the top and storage underneath. I like it because it keeps things neat and encourages building too.

We got some at TRU in the store. However, I discovered at the Lego store at WDW that the gray lego plates also work for duplos. Can anyone confirm this?

That would be awesome if there were some plates that oculd be used for both. Or, if there were smaller plates (other than the nilo ones) that had one side duplo, one side lego. My CL always seems to have massively overpriced Duplo tables ($45+)

Another bonus for the Nilo sheets -- they flip over and work for regular Lego as well!
