I have finally decided to try planting flowers in front of our house.

I love the 'Double Knockout Roses' (deep pink roses at the bottom of the pic in the link below). I located some yesterday, and I planted them today. :)

My DH and I would really like to plant some of the 'tall purple flowers' located 'above' the
Double Knockout Roses, but we don't know what they are called. I've asked around, but no one knows for sure.

Can anyone look at the link below and help me out?

Thanks! :)

I think it's salvia.

Yup, salvia. It's so pretty with the roses in that picture!
There are annual and perennial salvias. the herb sage is one type of salvia.

Yup, they look like salvia to me as well. Although another interesting plant to try that would have a similar look but more colors too would be lupine. Love it in my flower beds. :)

I thought it looked like lupine, too, but the salvia folks nailed it. Lupine is also pretty: http://www.burpee.com/product/perennial+flowers/lupine/lupine+russell+mixed+colors+hybrid++-+1+pkt.+%2835+seeds%29.do

I agree that it is salvia, but I have also seen Russian sage paired with knockout roses, and it looks amazing, too. It is another purple flower, with silver-green "lacey" foliage. You might check into that if you want purple, but aren't locked into the salvia.

You might also look at Delphiniams..... which can be a purplish blue color- the Russian sage is very pretty too- we have ours facing south in our yard- it attracts lots of bees.....but a lovely less dominant purple color!
