My DH needs some new jeans, so I bought a couple pairs of Levi's for him today at Kohl's for his birthday. I was with my two DSs, though, so I had limited time. And my head was swimming from all the options and fits. Has anyone bought men's Levi's recently? What fit and wash do your DHs love and wear? My guy is going to be 42 if that helps with the recommendations. And he's not overly fit but not heavy either. Let's just say he likes his beer. :wink2: Feel free to list brands other than Levi's, too. Thanks!

My husband has huge thighs (he used to be a college RB :D) and only Polo jeans work for him.

DH loves Banana Republic Loose fit jeans. In fact, he proudly announces when he gets them marked down, too. I've taught him well, LOL! :)

Opposite land here...my DH has to wear skinny fit. He's got a 32 inch waist and can wear those tight rock star jeans...not that he does! (thank goodness!) He wears the Levi's 514.

I got DH these at the GAP, much better than the jeans he was wearing that were almost "mom" jeans.

I'm quite fond of my Levi Silvertabs.

I think these look good on the largest percentage of guys.

There's nothing like a pair of Levi's on a man...

DH wears nothing but Levi's 501.

My husband has some Levi's in a loose fit from Target that he buys for $20 a pair... these are mostly for work. He recently got a pair of Lucky Brand Jeans from my sister that she got at Costco. He loves them and they look great on him!

DH wears Old Navy Loose-Fit Jeans (http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=5205) ... the cut is stylish without looking too young (DH is 38).

DH is on the stockier side, and these work well for him because they're not too tight in the thighs. They don't look nearly as baggy on DH as they do on the ON model. ON has several other styles as well ... if your DH has a leaner build, Boot Cut would probably look good.

DH has just about every wash except the really dark ones. They hold up well (DH is rough on clothes), and are reasonably priced, especially is you can get them on sale or use a coupon code.

Wrangler Twill, Khaki, and Carpenter Jeans here. We used to buy Levi's but he requested going back to Wrangler.

DH has been really happy with the following brands of jeans:
American Rag jeans from Macys (he likes the bootcut ones; no photo of his online)
Wrangler Hero Original jeans from Target (http://www.target.com/Wrangler-Bootcut-Jean-Black/dp/B002ULGZS8/ref=br_1_2?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&qid=1273625240&searchView=grid5&sr=1-2&node=13106491&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=2&searchSize=30&id=Wrangler%20Bootcut%20Jean%20Black&searchBinNameList=purchasing_channel%2Csubjectbin% 2Ctarget_com_age%2Ctarget_com_gender-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin) (he also has these in a med. blue wash)

He also has some Lucky Brand jeans that are my personal favorite on him. Lucky 181 Bootcuts: http://www.luckybrand.com/181-Jeans/LBM00100,default,pd.html?cgid=mensJeans&selectedColor=460

DH has never been happy with Levis fit so he has never worn them. He has also had some luck with Gap 1969 Bootcuts, but Gap jeans change so often that he often got annoyed with that and gave up on them altogether.

DH wears gap jeans. He also has a pair from Lucky when they have their sales. I'll have to check out Costco for him.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! The pairs I picked up yesterday are the Relaxed Straight 559s
http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3584257&cp=3146842.3146844.3146854.3691998

and the Original 501s

I noticed a bunch of folks like the Silvertabs. I didn't notice that name but did see "Loose Fit" jeans. Wonder if those are the ones you are talking about? I was thinking Loose Fit might be too baggy in the hips and thighs if I got his proper waist size. (He has a little pooch around the middle but fairly slim hips and thighs). If anyone has any suggestions for this particular body type, feel free to add them.

I'll probably just give him the ones I bought and then he can return them if they don't fit and get the fits/styles he wants. I will keep all of your suggestions on hand to show him. Thanks again!

I think Silvertabs come in a variety of styles. There's at least a "Loose Fit" version and a "Boot Cut" version. I happen to be wearing the Boot Cut apparently. I'm sure you ladies know what the difference is cuz I don't.

If your DH is fluffier, you don't want the premium denim anyways. They're cut tighter, even when they say they're loose. I'm on the slimmer side too. I have Seven jeans that look the best, but they're so tight, my wallet and keys are uncomfortable on me. I have some Chip & Peppers that are better, but they're still not quite loose enough for me like the Levis are. I had a pair of Banana Republic jeans that were great too, but I haven't found another pair that had the same degree of softness (like the premium jeans) with durability.

That's why I like Silvertabs. I think my current pair is like my 3rd or 4th pair. Quality of the denim and the fit is consistent.

DH likes Levi's Relaxed Fit, can't remember the number, but they are the red tab.

He recently got a pair of Dockers jeans. I was skeptical, but they look pretty good. :jammin:

What bricks and mortar store can you buy the silvertab levi's? My hubby has chunky thighs, so I need to be able to return them if they are too tight. Kohls? Target? Thanks! :wavey:

I picked up two pairs of Lucky Brand jeans at Costco for DH, they were $36.99 each. That's all he ever wears now on weekends. Loves them. And looks good in them.
