These seem like such a common item, but I"m having a hard time finding them. Just the basic kinds like what we used to have growing up for the fridge. I found some at TRU for $13..seems a bit overpriced!

Thanks!

I just saw them at Dollar Tree. At one they were in the teacher area in the other they were in the toy area. You only get 1 of each letter but you could get two or three sets if you want extra es ;) Also they are usually in the "toy" section in the grocery store (next to the cereal).

We got a nice set at Lakeshore Learning (which is a teacher supply store, not sure if you have one near you, but you could order from their website, I'm sure). They're cool because they're bigger than the cheapie ones you find at dollar stores & stuff, so not quite as much of a choking hazard. And they also come in all lower-case or all upper-case (we bought the lower case).

Walmart has a set of capital letters from for $1. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with them though because the magnets on the back are so small, I could see them easily being swallowed if they pop out of the letter.

We have the Fridge Phonics letters. I bought an older version off CL so it came with BOTH capital and lower case letters. And the letters are made so that you can't see the magnets, much less have them come out. The fact that they're helping DS learn to "sound out" letters is an added bonus! But I get that they may not be quite what you're looking for.

The set we got from TRU (TRU brand) was less than $5...

If you can spend a bit more, we love the Leap Frog magnets - they actually say the phonic sound of the letter and the magnets are on the inside and not exposed.

We got ours in the dollar bins at Michael's - near the cashier lines.

Teachers stores usually have them. The Dollar Tree near us has had them lately also. For little ones I am hesitant about the plastic ones with the tiny magnets, many of mine have fallen out.
