I bought some giraffe fabric to hang in my son's room and I want to stretch it for a wall hanging, but just wondered if you all had some cheap solutions how to do it.

FYI- my husband is NOT handy, so he will not be building me one :( If only my dad lived close!

You can either stretch it over a frame or a canvas (AC Moore/Michaels have all sizes - use one of their coupons) with a staple gun or you could remove the glass from any size frame and just wrap the fabric around the backing.

If you want to frame it, get some Pellon 71 (one side fusible, stiff interfacing)- sold by the yard at Joann's and probably most other big fabric stores. And cut the interfacing to the size that you need to fit the frame and use your iron to fuse the fabric to the interfacing. Trim the excess fabric off. I would take the glass out of the frame and put the interfacing/fabric in the frame.

I did basically that here. (Except I appliqued the C on the fabric first.)

Depending on the size, you can get an embroidery hoop and stretch the fabric. Just trim the fabric after putting it in the hoop, then secure on the back and hang.

One example here:

I stretched some fabric over artist canvases and used a staple gun to hold it on. :)

If you live near an IKEA, they sell fabric stretcher frames for $4.99. Can't do much better than that!

They're usually near the bolts of fabric, in the Textiles department.

Ugh! If ONLY!! I live nowhere near one, and have another thing for my son's room that I need (want) to get there too!!
