3 year old music lover

Wanting some birthday gift ideas to encourage DS2's love of music. Pondering a keyboard but most of the "kids" ones I see seem to be annoying noise makers rather then instuments, KWIM? Maybe a real one off craigslist? Suggestions and other ideas welcome- He has a 5.5 year old brother who will love to join the band as well.

DS is going on 27 months and loves music too. He likes it but a lot of the features are still a bit old for him. Still, it's a fun keyboard to grow into. Your 5.5 year-old will probably love it.

I also saw some cute music makers (tamborines, shakey eggs, etc) in the $1-$5 section at a craft store recently (can't remember if it was AC Moore or Michael's).
