ETA: yes, the price comes out to be $14.02 after you subscribe & save, plus like the op said, free shipping and no tax!

Can you just cancel subscribe and save after the order is placed?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription right after you place your order. I think you log into amazon, and go to manage your subscriptions (I'm trying to remember because it's been a while) and then it will show you your current subscribe and save items. The huggies diapers will pop up and you will then see a button that says cancel this subscription. Just click it and you've unsubscribed.
