Haba and Radio Flyer are just too pricey for us. CL isn't an option here. Any other good push toys? For LO first b-day.

TIA!

I've never tried it out with my kids, but Ikea has one if you have an Ikea locally. I want to say their version is $25-30.

I wonder if anyone here has tried the ikea one with their kids?

We have one from IKEA that looks like a little blue wagon. I don't see it on their website anymore but I think it cost around $20. We love it. It's very simple like most of their toys and wooden, not plastic. DS has played with since he could walk and still does at 19 months.

Also check craigs's list. These are the kinds of toys that are sold there often.
I have known several people who used something like this and liked it (more Unisex)

We have the Lion one above. DS1 preferred it to the Radio Flyer walker wagon.

DD has the above mentioned FP stroller. She got it for her first birthday with a doll and she still loves it.
I think FP has a "boy" version too.....can't remember what it is though.

She was given the lion for christmas (1.5yrs old) and we've never used it as a walker, but she loves riding it.
She's also played with the others mentioned too and has always seemed to enjoy them.
One thing DD seems to love most about her stroller walker is that she can put stuff in it and push it around.

We have the FP lion as well and DS loved it and used it a lot when he was learning to walk. We got it for around $20 on sale at Walmart.

For an early walker, this was GREAT! It's heavy enough that it won't tip when baby uses it to pull up, and heavy enough that it won't slide across the floor when pushed - it moves at a nice controlled slowish-speed on hard floors. Plus the sound effects were cool. Our kids LOVED it. Now that they are toddlers, they prefer the cheap plastic toys that they can push around FAST. But for an early walker, something sturdy and made of wood is really nice to have.

Also, I second the PP who recommended the IKEA one. In person it looked like a really nice simple wooden walker.

Thanks for the suggestions. Any thoughts on how well these would work on carpet? I know lots of people have wood floors, but I wonder if the plastic ones would get stuck in the carpet? LO is just about to start walking we think (prob will before her b-day when she'll get this). But I want something like this not so much to help her walk. I don't think she'll need one for that. But she LOVES pushing her stroller (with me holding her). I think she would enjoy something to push of her own (as would I).

And any thoughts on this one? It's a little different from what I was looking for, but I found one extremely cheap and I'm tempted to try it out. But I'd have to drive across town (45 minutes) to get it.

DD has the Stride to Ride Lion. She hasn't really started walking yet, but she likes to hold on to it when standing. The only thing is the lion doesn't have brakes, so I have to hold it to make sure it doesn't roll away from her.

I have Berber carpet and it's easy to push the lion on it.

We have carpet and don't have any problems with the plastic toys rolling on it at all. The toy you showed I'm sure will be well liked. Since your LO is a girl I would suggest the pink stroller. We bought it for DD when she turned 1 and she still loves it at 24 months (money well spent) ;)

The Ikea walker is the last one pictured (blue) (http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/top-ten/top-ten-baby-walkers-022536)
I got this for my 15 month old this w/e - I can't find it on the Ikea website but they had it at the store. You adjust the tension on the wheels with a screw. DS loves it!

This one is super simple, but it's $20 and it's my LO's favorite (and we have a lot of them!)

We actually got ours as a hand-me-down from a friend.
I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for because it's not a ride-on as well, but when learning to walk - it was his go-to toy.

I just ordered this one for DS2, but I haven't gotten it yet. I like that it's wooden, but still under $50. It has a little basket under it to store stuff as well.

My youngest is 11 now so we've been out of the push-toy stage for awhile (unless you count my daughter pushing the hockey puck around on the ice). However, we got something very similar to these when our son was 1 and they lasted through all 4 kids (he's almost 21!)! We finally sold it at a yard sale.

We used ours indoors and out, carpeted floors and hard floors too. It traveled from IL, to HI to the UK and served us well.
