My son has been fascinated with his books with Mother Goose Rhymes in them.

He's got the Little Golden Book My First Little Mother Goose book (http://www.amazon.com/My-First-Little-Mother-Goose/dp/0307302156/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1276027950&sr=1-6)

And My First Mother Goose book with a handle (http://www.amazon.com/Mother-Plastic-Handle-MOTHER-GOOSE-BOARD/dp/B001TM4VPI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1276027994&sr=1-1) . NEITHER has more than about 6 lines of poetry per poem. I'd like to introduce him to more of the rhymes/more verses in the ones we know.

He's almost 3 years old. Hit me with your favorite illustrated Mother Goose books!

Sylvia Long's Mother Goose is fantastic - I like it the best of all the MG options :).

My DD *adores* this, and the illustrations are gorgeous:

I just wanted to tell you that you are very lucky! I have collected close to a dozen Mother Goose books and my two boys want nothing to do with them. When I get a second, I will look at them and tell you which ones are *my* favorites.

This is ours and the girls LOVE it! The rhymes have multiple verses, as opposed to other books that have shortened versions. The art is beautiful, I especially like Twinkle Twinkle and Hey Diddle Diddle. I'm so glad you posted this thread OP, because the one drawback to this book is there aren't enough rhymes. Maybe I'll find another good volume.

I don't recommend this:

The rhymes are too abridged. The artwork is fine though.

I bought this years ago when older DD was an infant. Both of my girls have loved it.

http://www.amazon.com/Little-Library-Nursery-Rhymes-Board/dp/1588451879/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1276134412&sr=1-2-fkmr0

Each nursery rhyme is it's own little book and has several verses. I bought it at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

we have the one listed above by neelymartin-- the pictures are AMAZING (we also have gustafson's "classic fairy tales" again, wonderful pictures!). the diversity of rhymes is good, but the art is what sets the book apart.

one of my mother's friend's also sent lucy another MG book that has slightly weird pictures (not nearly the level of the above book) but it has TONS of rhymes...and it takes FOREVER to go through the whole thing (which my child wants to do every time we read it) i believe she got it at border's books. now i'm off to see the other's linked.
