I have a Pikkolo, which I really loved. We kind of stopped using it once DD could sit up in shopping carts, etc. But when on our beach trip, I used it for walks on the beach. It was perfect, because my friend's kids were walking, but my DD isn't walking yet & there's no way I would have been able to hold her all that time while walking through sand. The Pikkolo was comfortable & she even fell asleep (miraculous!)

Anyway, I had 2 girlfriends there that helped me to wrestle my squiggly 16 mo DD into position. At home, we do a lot of things on our own (without DH) and I would like to be able to use the Pikkolo more.

Anyone have any advice on how you "load" your DC into a Pikkolo back carry when you're solo?

I use the hip scoot method. Practice while on your bed, so that you will feel more confident. Check out www.thebabywearer.com for more instructions, and links to videos.
