UPDATE:

So sad. I spoke today to a teacher at DD#1's school who is neighbors, very good friends AND in our yoga class. She spoke with Dorte yesterday. It is stage 4 lung cancer. She has, at best, two years to live. Chemo & radiation (both of which she had last time) start next week.

I am sooooo heartbroken.

More P&PT for a miracle would be greatly appreciated.

I hesitated to post this, but definitely believe in the power of the BBB.

If you could please keep my yoga teacher in your thoughts and prayers, I would really appreciate it. She had breast cancer 2 years ago and went through a lumpectomy, radiation and chemo. Her mother also has had it (same kind I think??). My yoga teacher's 2 daughters are around the same age as mine. In fact, she and I were in Strollerrobics together with our oldest daughters.

She has recently had some breathing issues and went to get it checked out. Long story short, they found something on her CT scan and she is having a lung biopsy this week. We are all very very worried about her. she is originally from Germany and has no family here to help her -- and her mom can't/won't travel because she can't get travel medical insurance due to her own cancer. Her DH travels a lot for work.

This has really hit home for me as I have outlived my own mother (who died at 38 of breast cancer) and my father (who died at 42 of a heart attack). I know what its like to have a parent die. I am so scared for her girls (and obviously her too).

Anyway, if you could spare some P&PT, thank you. Her name is Dorte.

Melissa, she will continue to be in my prayers. I believe very much in the power of prayer. Eleven months ago, the mother of one of DS' classmates was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. We were told her prognosis was very grim. It is my understanding that doctors had told her she had a few months. She is in her early 30s with 2 small children. I know she had a scan last week, but I don't know the results. However, the scan prior to that showed every tumor had shrunk at least 90 percent. Nearly a year later she is doing quite well. I tell you this so you know that there is hope. I will pray for your friend and her family.

Hugs,
Linda

Thank you sooo sooo much. Dorte is a fighter. SHe will be doing both conventional treatment and any naturopathic options available. I spoke with the director at our gym and we are hoping to do a benefit or some sort of group "positive energy" yoga fest for her.

There is absolutely hope. My neighbor had cancer come back in 3 spots of her body 2 years after fighting breast cancer. The spots the cancer was in were inoperable. The best she could hope for was the chemo and radiation to beat it down. I just talked to her for the first time in about 4 months and the cancer spots don't show up on the CT scan anymore. She will be on some maintenance meds but she is considered cancer free. I'm so happy for her, her daughter just had their second grandchild and they are having so much fun with their grandkids.

I know other survivors of Stage 4 cancer so don't give up hope! I"ll keep your friend in my prayers.
