View Full Version : This baby will be named "hey you" unless we come up with something soon. HELP!

I've been stalking the recent naming threads but we are completely empty. We don't have any list of possible names for this new little one. Not one name that we would use. Not one.

I have so much going on at the moment, I don't know why this is the thing that is stressing me out so much. There are so many more important things this feels so silly. It shouldn't be so hard to name a baby.

See names of our 3 boys in my siggie. Other than sounding good with the other names & not starting with an "H" we don't really have any restrictions. Obviously we don't like popular/common names.

What can you suggest for me? Please help!

Seth (one of my favorite boy names)
Caleb
Saul
Jarred
Vincent

I put your sons' names in Nymbler and it shot out some of these names. It also came up with Dean and Myles which seemed like nice fits with your other boys' names. Other Nymbler suggestions: Anthony, Russell, Roman, Simon, Henry, James...

BTW, I love the name Samson. I tried to talk DH into Samuel or Samson for a boy and Samara for a girl.....but I lost.

Heath was the first thing that came to mind when I read your list, but you said no H's.

Caleb (maybe Caleb Heath)

Cole

Logan

Dunno. DH and I never did agree on a boys name either time, LOL.

Simon was my first thought, then I thought that's too close to Samson. Griffin was the second name that popped into my head.

We had a lot of trouble with names for DS #2...we came up with Lukas and Tobias (because we like Toby). Other names we liked are Alexander, not Alex but the full name. I do love the name Vincent and Gabriel.

Seth (one of my favorite boy names) Good friend's son
Caleb Good friend's son
Saul Last 2 kids with same initial - bugs me
Jarred Subway commercial
Vincent Adulterous father of old friend
Dean eh
Myles nephew
Anthony doesn't seem to fit for me
Russell eh
Roman DOOL
Simon I like it, DH doesn't
Henry last name begins with "H"
James too common...

I've been spending a lot of time on Nymbler these days, LOL! Sometimes I think it just doesn't sound right because there are so many names it's overwhelming. I'm hoping someone will make a suggestion & it will just be the right time to hear it, even if I heard it before.

Heath too "Wuthering Heights"

Caleb (maybe Caleb Heath) Good friend's son

Cole Good friend's son

Logan very popular around here

Dunno. DH and I never did agree on a boys name either time, LOL.

Geez, I didn't realize how picky I was, LOL!
Thanks for the suggestions - Keep them coming if you can stand my obnoxious pickyness.

Rueben is one that I keep coming back to. I don't think DH liked it but I can't remember why. It's on the list.

I like Walter and George and Aaron a lot. Henry too.

Derek is another one that popped into my head.

What about David? That's a classic that does not seem over used just now, at least where I am.

I'm thinking about -

Ian
Aiden (too popular here in New England, but I'm not sure about everywhere else)
Almon (unusual family name, definitely NOT too popular)
Leon

I like your other boys' names. We have a Calvin and a Lawrence in my extended family!

Jeran, nickname Jerry if you want to have a nn.
Ezro
Zane

Fergus or Fergal
Domick (no, not Dominick, though I like that too)

You should put your current kids' names in the post. I have a terrible memory, and I can't see your sig when in Reply mode.

I also love Caleb and Seth. For unusual, I would put in a vote for Alistair, with Ali as a nickname. Not at all common here but very common in Scotland. Same for Graeme/Graham. I like Eli but it is increasingly common - - though I have a friend with an Elijah who calls him Elijah and the full name is still uncommon. Elias is less common and fits VERY nicely with Samson/Calvin/Lawrence.

I like Emerson too. And Ezra. And Emmett (our boy name if we have one). And Gabriel but we have one already so I am biased!

Gideon. Julian. Levi. Wesley (I really like Wes, probably more than Wesley).

Oh, what about Silas? I loved that one but dh vetoed it. I think Silas is a hidden gem of a name, at least in my area it is uncommon. I also loved Isiaah nickname Izzy but also vetoed by DH. Isiaah is one that everyone loves but they don't pull the trigger on so still pretty uncommon.

Gus is extremely cute and likable but may not be formal/classic enough for your taste. Same with Van.

You have wonderful names for your three boys . . . I can see why its hard. You have set the bar high!

I really like Casper but I'm not sure I can convince DH. I think DH suggested Frederick not too long ago. They're both going on the list.

I know a kiddo named Casper. She has to repeat it over and over again. She hears, "Casper? You mean, like the friendly little ghost?" almost every time she meets a new adult. Since she's my neice, La will talk about her, and adults think it's a nickname we have for her, and will ask what her "real" name is.

I like the sound of Casper... but after just being a relative of a Casper... gives me a whole new outlook on that name!

Random names I thought of when looking at your older kids' names....

Zane
Caspian (sounds similar to Casper)
Emmett
Beckett (loving this name right now)

I really like Casper but I'm not sure I can convince DH. They're both going on the list.

I am a BIG fan of Caspar, I may have suggested it to you before? I like it with two "a"s but the other spelling works for me too!

Here are some more (I never had a chance to use boy names, so these are just ones I briefly considered or liked ;) )

Tobias - I like the NN Toby, and Tobias is uncommon but not unheard of. I just discovered someone on the board has a Toby! :)

Henry - nice solid name (oops, remembered you don't want "H" names. )

Milo - is it too close to Miles for you?

Nigel - I think it works with your other boys' names

Eli

Ethan

Sebastian - NN Baz, which is just cool sounding!

Seamus

Sean

I think it's very helpful (to me at least) that you put your reasons for liking/not liking a name.

Going through the exact same thing with my DH! However you are much farther along than me, I understand your stress! I'll give you our short list, we also wanted an uncommon name.

Beckett (this is what we chose)
Rowan
Xavier
Liam(popular but we loved it)
Finn
Maddox
Jax(i love this name but its becoming popular)

GL! I hope you find a name you love! Before we chose I was convinced we would never find a name that both DH and I loved, but it finally happened.

I started a post last night on my iphone, but I lost it. Wanted to say I love the Walter suggestion, think it goes great with the other boy names in your family. We know a little boy named Walter and I think it works great for him. Also love Silas, Wyatt and Arlo.

Tossing in a few more from names of kids we know:

Ellis
Hollis
Thurman
Sebastian

That's all for now, my brain is tired this morning.

Thank you! We either get that response or silence followed by "very interesting" or "how unusual", LOL!

I like Gabriel, too. Unfortunately it's a bit common here. Surprisingly, Calvin is too. We lived in another state when he was born & it was not common there but he's already been Calvin H. a few times.
