We're heading into summer camp season, and my kids tend to lose their water bottles. We have a few freebie bottles that are plastic number 2, which is an option. But wanted to see here if anyone has a recommended water bottle that's safer and not too expensive (i.e., its ok if it gets lost)...!! Thanks.

Rubbermaid brand waterbottles are around $3 and are #5 polypropelene (one of the safest out there).

They even have smaller ones for kids, and they are wide mouth to accommodate ice-cubes.

Target and Walmart carries them, as well as most grocery stores.

We are going to try the Rubbermaid ones.

For school, DD#1 has been taking water in a Contigo kids cup, but it won't be enough for camp. I let her try some of DH's and my old (but still safe plastic) Rubbermaid ones. We have the sport cap, straw cap and chug style. She liked the chug style one: http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-3161-RD-EDAY1-3161RDEDAY1-Chug-Bottles/dp/B000UVMTP8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1277311462&sr=8-2

We use the Rubbermaid litterless lunchbox juice boxes (small size) for her milk, but they definitely aren't big enough for a full day of water.

I plan to put some ice in the water bottle too so it stays somewhat cold. We have numerous stainless steel bottles, but they are just SO heavy for her when empty, I'm not OK with that.
