I have a DS who is over 2.5 years old. I had a m/c about 18 months ago (at about 7 weeks). I am STILL lactating. Is in a normal range? If I squeeze a breast I can produce colostrum easily. Help?

ETA I nursed DS2 until he was 8 months old. So I haven't been nursing in over 2 years.

I still can produce colostrum if I squeeze and my last pregnancy was nearly 3 years ago. Not sure what is "technically" normal though.

Is there a LC you can call and ask.....or your OB?

My first self weaned at 8 months & I recall finding colostrum close to 2 years later, before I became pregnant with DD2. I also found it weird & probably even posted about it! I think it's just a remainder from all the hormones.

My mom told me once that she didn't lose her milk completely until she started menopause.

I had the same happen probably 6 or 8 months after DD2 weaned (at 12 months old). I just made sure not to squeeze it like that again. ;)

We stopped breast feeding at around 15 months. I had milk until she was over 3. I also felt for another year after that the girls could have been called back into duty if they had to. I don't know how else to describe it. :) After that - they were back to normal.
