I am EBF DD and she is now 8.5 months old. So, guess which little friend visited me today ---- the evil red one. !

Just curious - for those that breast-fed -- when you all started your period?

Not yet... 8 months and counting (expecting it soon, though, as DD is eating more and more solids and supply is dropping).

I think it was between 6 and 7 months for me- DC was born in Oct. & by Mother's Day I remember telling my SIL that mine was back. I was also BF and didn't wean until about 15 months or so, but I guess good ol' AF didn't care!

It was different for each baby.
DD1- 6 months
DD2- 7 months
DS- 11 months

and then it disappears for a month or two, totally keeping me guessing as to its arrival. I was EBFing each of them at the time. (sorry, not DS. I started giving him solids at 9-10 months.)

With Jack I think he was 17 months.

Can't remember last time. This time, 5mos. But only for one month and hasn't arrived this month...yet...I started the mini pill and still EBF so who knows.

DS1 - 14 months, after weaning
DD - 15 months, after weaning
DS2 - 24 months, after weaning - but it's only spotting now as I have a Mirena.

7 months. Coincided with starting supplementing and stopping pumping when I'm at work.

Hannah was the first breastfed baby for me, and with her it was 15 months. Thankfully AF has been held at bay for nearly 11 months with Andrew.

I have heard alot of it has to do with how often and how many times you are nursing. DD didn't sleep through the night without nursing until 10 months old. DS is still nursing once a night. He is also still nursing every two hours, sometimes a quick snack more often than that if we are just hanging around at home. DD was the same way at this age. So that may be why.

DS1 was 7 months. I EP'd though with him after struggling through the first months and I didn't have to pump as frequently as he actually ate.
DS2 was 15 months. He wouldn't take a bottle at all.

6 WEEKS. :32: betcha no one can beat that!! :) hehe.

and it wasn't a fluke, AF came every month after that. and i EBF'ed, never supplemented with formula at all. i nursed at night too (until DS finally STTN at 3 months). :shrug:

i've come to accept that all those things the experts say about BF'ing (how it helps you lose weight, how it keeps your period away, etc) apply to everyone else in the universe except for me. good thing i really enjoy nursing because i've experienced none of the health "benefits" experts say it gives.

I EBF DD1 and got it back at 3 mos. . Anything longer than that with EBF DD2 would be great but I am not holding my breath. I figured though I had less than 6 week break though between the after birth bleeding/spotting stopping and getting my period back.

6 months, after DS was given his first bottle of formula (I was visiting someone in the hospital).

DD--I got it the first month after delivering. I supplemented her a little the first 2 weeks, but other than that was EBF. I guess that was enough to do it :( Boo-ho!

Somewhere between 3-4 months PP while exclusively BF'ing Ds #2.

Can't remember exactly when with DD#1...I'm thinking 7-8 months PP.

EBF both kids and had my first period at 6 weeks postpartum with DS1 and 5 weeks postpartum with DS2. Yes, I said WEEKS! It sucks!!!!!!!!!

I think I take after my grandma who is super fertile. She has 7 kids and her first two kids are just 11 months apart!!! She EBF too.

It came back at 8 months. I pumped exclusively for 8 months and was just starting to slowly cut back on the number of times a day I was pumping. As soon as I started to cut back, I got my period and dried up.

OMG i was thinking the same thing for me too. i was telling my mom how quickly i got my period back, and my mom said hers did as well but my mom didn't BF me so i figured that didn't mean much...but i know my grandmother also was super fertile and had 7 kids, all bf'ed and two of them were 11 mo apart also.

3 months PP, and I Bf'd for 2 years. AF missed me.

It was about 12-14 months post-partum with each child. I EBFd until about 5 months with each, then started solids and continued breastfeeding. They all slept through the night at reasonable ages, not super early or super late, so it wasn't ending night feeds or supplementing that brought my period back. Mother Nature worked well for me.

It came while we were in the process of weaning at about 13 months.

DS1 = 4 WEEKS
DS2 = 6 WEEKS
DS3 = 5.5 WEEKS

Yes, WEEKS.

EBF, including setting alarm for every three hours all night for DS1 who was a preemie.

Lovely.

I am so jealous. I started exactly 6 weeks after I had my DS the day after my follow up check up at my OB's. I've been regular since.

I started 6 weeks after my DS was born. :cry: He was EBF and when my period started, I thought I wasn't feeding him enough but turns out my sister and my mother and my grandmother who EBF their kids had theirs at 6 weeks. DS was and is still co-sleeping and feeding at night but that didn't make any difference to AF. And like the PP, I think this also has something to do with fertility. My grandmother EBF'd all her kids but had 11 surviving children(13 total) and her last was born when she was about 45. She apparently had her period till age 47.

Anyway, here I'm stilling feeding my son at 22 months and have been regular since the six week mark. However I always had a cycle of 42 days , so I guess I should feel lucky that atleast its not every month.

AF returned after 13 months with DS1&2...shortly after introducing cow's milk, although I continued BF until 15-16 months, slowly tapering off.

I figure AF should be coming back soon, since DS3 turned one a couple of weeks ago.
