This would be if you traveled to a friends house out of state for a weekend or longer visit. I usually do. Do you?

I do. Usually something that can be used in the house and if they have kids then I take something for the kids too.

we generally do as a "hostess gift". Generally something local to us-usually a consumable but we took a nice peice of local pottery when we stayed with my bro and SIL a couple years ago. I knew we would really be putting them out and they were being very gracious. They are DINKS and we had 2 very little kids.

Always. Something for each child and a hostess gift. I usually get nice things for the kids and a 'token' hostess gift.
