Spinning off from the 70yo mother post, who is the oldest person you know to give birth to a baby (or adopt). If you're voting for an adoptive parent, then please vote in the 2nd to last category only. The categories above are only for people giving birth. I'm not slighting adoptive parents! From a physicality and physiological perspective, there is a difference, so I wanted to keep them separate. However, from a day to day parenting perspective, I want to know about parenting young children at an older age. So, this is the best I could do to combine them.

The daughter of my ILs best friends just adopted a little girl. My guess, since the wife used to babysit DH when he was a kid, is that she's somewhere between 45-50, so I voted 47. Other than that, for either adoption or childbirth, I would say early 40's.

My grandmother, she had 8 kids, her 7th and 8th (twins) at 42, I think. No treatments, of course, this was in the 60's.

Let me just add that being a Mommy later in life has been the most wonderful thing ever...

My marriage is fantastic and I am so much more patient, understanding and present and these babies have made not only my life and my husbands life richer but my oldest son is thrilled that he has 2 baby brothers...He hated being an only child.

With my first baby, my marriage was in shambles and I was a single mother when he was only 14mos...

Had I re-married a man my own age I probably wouldnt have had anymore babies but my husband is 10yrs younger than me and had no children.

Mom of HS friend had her little sister at 48 - menopause baby. We were in 8th grade when she was born.

I wasn't sure how to respond as a 14YO when she's telling me that breastfeeding is just the wrong angle when you wear bifocals. This is also when she started coloring her hair. Later in HS my friend got lots of rude comments from people assuming her little sister was her daughter.

I know a lot of moms in their early to mid 40s when they had their first kid. Prior to being a mom I only knew of my great grandma who had her last child at 42 in 1929, and Dh's grandma who also had her last child just shy of 40 in 1964.

I know a lot of people who had their first child or an additional (2-9th) child in their early to mid 40s. Late 30s, early 40s is more common in my circle/community than anytime in 20s. I met one woman who was pregnant with her first at age 48, that is the oldest pregnant person I have ever known/met IRL.

One of my colleagues is pregnant now and she is 43. It's her first and he was a volunteer.

My grandma had her 6th at 40 and her 7th at 42. She's the oldest mother I know! There's lots of mom's in my playgroup who just turned 40 and have babies under 1.

Grandma (still goin' strong at 90) had her last child at age 43. My aunt is 15 years older than me- same age difference between her and my mom. :hug5: She had 8 surviving kids. The younger grandkids are just hitting the teen years now, and now she has started a nice crop of great grandkids..

My SIL was 47 when she gave birth to my nephew. She did need to use one of her younger sister's eggs.

I'm the oldest biological mom I know IRL. 37 when DD#1 was born, 40 when DD#2 was born.

I should have started 10 years earlier. DH agrees. Parenting little kids in my 40s is craziness!

I was 41 when Jack was born. There are a few of us "over 40" moms on here. Chunkynickschunkymom ( Susan) and StillPlayswithBarbies come to mind

I think 44, the age of DH's grandmother when she had her twins, the last of 9.

The aunt of a friend missed one BCP at 43. Her doc told her she probably didn't have to worry at her age. 40 weeks later...
