My niece is turning 9 and I'd like to buy her something small -- any idea what a 9 yr old girl might like? She is not the girly girl type, more sporty since she has an older brother. Being the mom of a toddler, I have no clue what the older set like!

My 8.5 year old DD and her cousins love this 20Q game. You think of something - anything at all - and through a series of questions, the little game device magically guesses your something. It's a lot of fun!

You can't go wrong with Hyper Dash. It's gender neutral and kids LOVE it!

Artsy/Craftsy stuff, Pixos/Chixos, Legos, and books are some other things we enjoy around here.

My almost 9 year old loves books, puzzles, board games, and card games.

She just discovered the game Apples to Apples and is loving it!

Books she is currently reading...

The How to Train Your Dragon Series by Cressida Cowell
Guardians of Ga'Hoole series by Kathryn Lasky

She just read the new Rick Riordan (author of Percy Jackson) book The Red Pyramid.
