Party for a friend...turning 6 and entering Kinder in the fall...any thoughts?

Is 6 and 7 pretty much the same? Legos and such? I know he has Stomp Rockets.

Games like Rush Hour or Hoppers were a hit with DS1.
More traditional games, like Connect 4, Blokus, etc were also a hit.
He got some big water squirt guns that he loves.

we have the new game- ds is 7
I think it'd be good for 6 yr old? there are some tiny pieces and a little lego 'wrench' -dh has to help w/ the wrench...
