Just wondering if there is a brand and store which you recommend buying one of those support braces for low back pain. I can't get rid of my back pain and it is only getting worse. My ob recommended getting one of those braces. I've seen an ad for them a long time ago but thought I would start with your recs since all of you are so resourceful! TIA!!! --Katherine (25 weeks pregnant!)

I think you should go to a home medical supply store and ask what they have & try them on. Also, for some of these things you need a prescription. You should check.

I got this one from Babies'R'Us and used it occasionally towards the end of my pregnancy:

It did help some. As I recall, it was sometimes a little scratchy against the skin, so I tended to wear it over a tank under my shirt. I know there was a more specialized band available from medical supply stores (can't think of the name of it right now), but I couldn't find them in my area and didn't want to order without being able to try it out first (plus they were more expensive).

I've been wearing this one for the past two weeks....

it appears to be helping...I esp. noticed the difference the one day I ventured out without it...

I'd imagine it might not help everyone but it was just enough support for me...

I can't really recommend it, as I never actually got it, but my OB wrote me a prescription for a "Prenatal Cradle" from the medical home supply store with my last pregnancy.

I got a really simple super wide elastic style band at motherhood. It rocked. It wasn't as fancy as others, but it did exactly what I needed. I once went to the mall without it, and made DH go buy one for me while I sat and waited, because I was too miserable without it.
