View Full Version : Finished the boys' room...FINALLY

After 4.5 years :bag

DH took the boys up to his parents house this weekend and I stayed home to do their room. It had horribly ugly wallpaper ~ tiny pale peach stripes with light blue squiggly lines between them. I ended up painting it a dark blue....I love it!!! DS1 got pirate wall decals and Ds2 got Lightning McQueen. I bought some fun accessories ~ cork board squares, art work hanger, magnet board, etc and put them around too. The stars on the top part of the wall glow in the dark too.
I LOVE the way it came out and can't wait for them to come home to see it!!!!! They have no idea that's what I was doing all weekend.

VERY cool room! Where did you get that zebra rug?

DH and Ds1 found it at a rug store in town. They were there ordering an oriental runner for our stairs and Ds1 saw the zebra stripes.

It's funny, he's loved zebras since he was 2.5. Before that it was elephants. He's 7.5 now so he's gotten quite the colletion :)

The cube bookcase and bins are from Target, the tall 3 shelf bookcase and the thin armoire are from our local unfinished furniture place and the long low bookcase is one my uncle made for my cousin when she was little. They didn't want it anymore so gave it to the boys. It's perfect to go under the windows!!

This...definitely! When my DSDs were 9 and 11, we were looking for a new house. They looked at several really BAD houses with us. They weren't with us when we bought the house we have now. We took them to see it and acted like we were just looking. When we told them we had already bought it, their reactions were priceless. I so wish I had had our friend (also our real estate agent) filming them. I really did not expect the reaction that we got. Definitely find a way to video their homecoming. Great job, BTW!

They absolutely love it!!! They got home about 8 last night and I told them I had a surprise for them in their room. They walked in and just stood there looking around.
Ds1 said "wow Mom that's the best surprise ever....I can't wait to have my friends over to see it" :) and he loves having all the space to put his artwork up. And Ds2 said "it's like having toys on our walls" and then kept hugging me and saying "I love you mommy, thank you"

So it was a success :) Now I need DH to take them away again so I can finish our room....LOL

Wow! It is beautiful!!! What a neat way to incorporate both of their interests and personalities yet keep it cohesive. I am glad they love it too!
