I'm not sure if this is national or not but you can shop with no upcharge Friday - Sunday and try out the club if you aren't a member.

sorry for the stupid question, but does this mean you can shop there if you are not a member? sort of, to try it out?

I heard it advertised on the radio here in MI today too. It does mean that you can shop there without being a member for those 3 days.

It's on their website, so I'm pretty sure it's national. You can put in your location & it will say what promos are available at your store.

Can someone explain how you pay (other than writing a check)? I remember hearing something about how they only take Discover.

OP thanks for posting. just got back from going to a local Sam's just to check it out. since it was a Saturday and they had this promotion i figured it would be a madhouse and supercrowded (our Costco is ALWAYS crowded every weekend!), but we were pleasantly surprised our store was not crowded at all. we barely had to wait in line. anyway, it was very similar to Costco, they had tons of good stuff, including that 1lb bag of greens for $3.99 or something crazy that others mentioned here (and yeah, no way we will be able to go thru it before it goes bad, but still, hard to pass up that deal). they had lots of samples of stuff, pizzas, juices, etc. im' so glad we went bc we stocked up on a lot of stuff and now we won't have to go to Costco for a while which is always a madhouse.

they take MasterCard & Discover. we didn't have either of those so we just paid with an ATM card.
