Every time my maids come, my hardwood floors are so slippery. Today my FIL completely wiped out and landed on his back! He was ok, but I felt horrible! I don't know why they are so slippery all the time! What do you use and do you have the slippery problem?

Vinegar and water. No slipperies here.

Depends on your flooring type. When we had oak, we used vinegar and water, or a store-bought product.

We now have Brazilian Cherry. Vinegar is a no-no. We use either windex and water, or a drop of dishwashing liquid and water.

Steam mop. We have the Eureka Envirosteamer and I love it (use only on finished floors.).

we use the Method wood floor cleaner... it smells like almond! No slippery floors. Any chance they are using something like Endust on your floors? That would make them super slippery!

Ecover Linseed floor soap. It has the faintest ever fresh scent which I love, and is natural-i only use natural products at home.

We use Murphy's Oil soap.

:yeahthat:

Diluted in water. Floors are shiny, but not slippery. And I love the smell.

Vinegar and water on our oak floors. Doesn't make them really shiny but not slippery and they are clean.

What kind do you use. I've been happy with windex or soap and water with a microfiber mop, b/c it's easy, but a steam mop would probably be even easier! :)

Bruce Floor Cleaner is what we use on the Brazilian Cherry floors. No slipperies but I don't like it b/c I have to spray a 4 square foot area the mop before moving on. TEDIOUS. I'd rather use Murphy's Oil Soap, but I've been told not to b/c the finish on the floor can't handle the water.

I spend way too much time doing this. When I'm old, I don't want to live in a house where I have to read the directions on how to clean anything. No flat surface cooktops, granite counters or stainless appliances that require special cleaners, no hardwood or tile floors etc. Just give me some laminate flooring, solid surface countertops so I can get my cleaning done & move on with my life!

Interesting! I've never heard this. I mean, I don't slop water on our brazilian cherry, but I do use a damp microfiber pad. It dries really quick, too. Ours are sealed, and the finish is glossy.

I've been using Windex/water in the 1 to 3 mix. I found that on a flooring website, and confirmed it with a local store. (We didn't build this house, or put the flooring in.) The last few times I filled the sink and put a drop or two of dish liquid in the water. I also read this on a flooring website.
