Looking for something that I won't regret buying for dd2 who will be 3 soon. Suggestions? I'm liking this place...

We have a collection of various instruments (drums, bells, harmonicas, whistles, keyborad...) and they are all popular. Some have come from classes DC have taken, some were bought, some were made. I think you can't go wrong having instuments around for kids.

If you can stand the noise ;) then I highly recommend Remo drums. They are really great. My dad got DD1 a cute little harmonica that actually plays well. I also love maracas and picked up some small kid sized ones at Guitar Center. I got rhythm sticks and a triangle at a teacher supply store. Come to think of it, every kid who comes over to play LOVES that dang triangle!

We have way too many musical instruments. I found a good deal on a 30-piece LP instrument set once so we have a bunch.

We have this one, and every kid that comes over wants to play it:

Melissa and Doug make a lot of different Band in a Box sets...we were able to get some for $7.99 on a Christmas toy sale on Amazon so I gave away a bunch that year as gifts.

We also have a bunch of egg shakers.
And a tiger xylophone/piano:

Other faves are a wooden train whistle (sounds just like a train) and a kazoo.
This one is also a huge hit, probably her favorite:

Another option would be a xylophone (or glockenspiel or whatever they are called) that is arranged like a piano keyboard. We have this one

but here is another similar one

Going for one of these. Any reason why you chose one over the other?

At the time the blue one was only $15 and the other one was $32 or so, which was the main reason. I think I read a review on Amazon saying that the second one was out of tune, but I had a quick skim today and didn't see it. I'm not even sure if it was the same product that I looked at (it was 2 years ago). I'm sure either would be great.
