Bought these shoes for practically nothing at DSW and like the color...it's a redish plum. Have no idea what to wear them with as far as a complete outfit goes. I have black, deep navy, chocolate, and grey dress pants and a blackish denim trouser. I'm sure I could probably wear the shoe with almost all of those bottoms depending on what I wore on top. So what would you wear on top when wearing these shoes?

You happen to be in luck, because colors that go well with these shoes are HUGE right now.

Rose pink
Berry
Plum
Burgundy
Grey
Black
Cream
Taupe/cement

So would it be ok to wear one color bottom, a different color top and then the shoes being a 3rd color? Like black pants, grey top, plum shoes? Or would it have to be a top in a similar color as the shoes? Don't laugh. Can you tell I'm fashioned challenged?! I'm a black shoes with black pants, brown shoes with brown pants kinda girl so these shoes are totally throwing me off!

It's totally okay! And if it feels "off" to wear three different colors (pink top, grey pants, plum shoes) then you could get a scarf or purse or jewelry with the same color as your shoes, to help tie it in. But those shoes are a pseudo-neutral, like olive, and look fine with any of the colors mentioned.

Thanks. Trying to break out of my comfort zone (aka "mom" uniform) and get a little bit more fun with my wardrobe. I see people mix it up all the time and think they look so cute/nice/trendy but don't know how to do it myself.

I think long skinny scarves are the easiest way to do that. Loop one over a t-shirt, jeans and flats and you're precious. Especially if you have a cool bag.

I have been watching this blog for a few weeks now, and they tend to feature not matchy shoe with practically all of their recent outfits.

Now when I go out and about on the weekends, I try not to match my shoes, if that makes sense. Have just started doing that for work too.

So today I went with black pants, a medium grey shirt, and the red/plum shoes. Tied it together with a berry colored necklace. I'll have to keep my eye out for a scarf or two. Thanks for helping me break out of my comfort zone!
