Pretty much all of my glasses are breaking or are chipped in some way. I have not bought a new set in a long time. What we are using are thin and were given to us new from MIL's basement. I need to replace as we have about 6 left now.

Are there bpa free plastic tumblers out there that look like regular glasses? I was hoping to not buy glass this time (or buy something better than what I had). I want DD and DS to be able to use them--they would be our everyday glasses (so I want to get away from the mishmosh we currently have). Any suggestions of where to look?

Duralex are hands down the best that I have had. They don;t break even when dropped on a tile floor.

Are they heavy? Just trying to figure out how my 5.5 and 3 yr old will handle them?

My kids use these.

They are very sturdy. One just got knocked onto our new tile floor the other day and it did not even crack!

I have a smallest size for my DS (3 3/4 ounce) and he does fine with these. He uses these glasses for water and juice. However for milk I use a shot glass.

The glasses are heavy but not very heavy. They have a nice feel to them.

:yeahthat: I just replaced all my glasswear a couple weeks ago with Duralex. If you have a World Market in your area, the Picardie glasses are carried in their open stock. The prices are a bit better than amazon. http://www.worldmarket.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3596190

My DC use the small Tervis Tumbler (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=111554) juice cups found at BBBeyond.

We have this set from Williams Sonoma. Its also tempered glass which makes it very strong and hard to break. Both of my kids use them no problems. DD uses the smallest size and DS uses the second smallest size. They have been dropped into my cast iron sink without so much as a chip. I love the way they look. You would be best off finding a tempered glass options, Duralex is one brand this is another. Then it comes down to style and price. HTHs

I like those duralex glasses. We don't have a Cost Plus anymore, but I remember seeing them there. I should really have DS drinking out of a glass cup at meals instead of his frogo all the time.

I'm pretty sure Williams Sonoma still carries them in their open stock too if they are near you.
