With DC#1 and #2, I recalled having my first when I started to wean (around 10 or 11 months). I just had my third(DC#3) about two months ago. I started bleeding again two days ago. I talked to the nurse and was told that it was most likely the period and normal. Is it really?

Update: Thank you for all responses. I forgot to ask whether your milk supply dropped after your AF returned. That is actually another concern.

With DD1, AF returned within the first 3 months PP. I can't remember exactly, but I went back to work at 12 weeks and I know it returned before I went back to work. I exclusively pumped with her for the first 3 months and switched her to formula at about 4 months.

With DD2, I BF for 14 months and AF didn't return until she was weaned.:yay:

With DD3, AF returned at exactly 8 months. We introduced solids about 6 months and I think that had a huge impact. She was BF for 12 months but it became painful during ovulation after AF returned. Frustrating!

1st pg (stillbirth at 24 wks) - 8 wks exactly
2nd - (DS) - EBF around the clock, 8 wks exactly.
3rd (DD) - EBF around the clock, Mirena installed at 8 weeks, about 12-ish weeks.

Yes, I'm just that lucky.

DD#1, exactly 4 weeks after I fully weaned her at 12m (EBFd)

DD#2, exactly 4 weeks after I partially weaned her at 12m (again, EBFd).

However, after I had DD#2, my OB told me I would get my period around the 8w PP mark. Um, yeah, maybe some women do, but I definitely didn't.

i got my period 6 weeks after i gave birth to my DS, even though i was exclusively nursing him round the clock. needless to say i was disappointed..i hate getting AF and i had looked forward to nursing keeping the AF away! i never really got a break since i had the postpartum bleeding for 4 weeks, then only had a week or so of nothing b4 AF returned! i got my period regularly (every month) after that...it was so regular in fact, that i ended up getting pg when DS was 7 months (he was still EBF + some solids). i think my case is unusual though.

DD is 8.5 months and I exclusively pumped up until 6.5 months. AF has yet to return.

With my DS, I EBFed till he was 7 months and most times atleast 4 times a night and still go my AF at 6 weeks. Very regular since then. DS is still feeding at night at 22 months and I haven't seen any irregularities in AF or any difference in flow.

So yes, definitely possible.

With Jack it was 17months. The others a month after I stopped nursing.

About 10 months w/DD1 (while I was exclusively nursing but pumping 3x/day at work).

Almost 14 months w/DD2 (also exclusively nursing but pumping 3x/day).

DS was 10 months and 25 days... I remember so accurately because it was my birthday, what a nice present, right?

But from other's responses I see I was lucky. I really enjoyed not having a period for such a long time.

I BF almost a year but around 10 months I started gradually weaning.

I would say around 2 years after each DD. Not having it was awesome:thumbsup:
I cant remember if I noticed any changes in my milk supply after AF came back-but I dont think so.

Exactly four weeks after I night-weaned my twins at 12 months. My milk supply doesn't seem to have changed (they are now 14 months).

At nine months, even I was nursing DD every three hours during the day and several times a night...and I hadn't started weaning or anything.

#1- AF started around 4-5 months later
#2 same
#3 AF started 3 months later.

And yes my supply was more....challenged after AF started. I was not weaning, in fact I didn't wean my first 2 until after 12 months. I think my biological clock was just ticking extra fast:p

6 months with T, 12 months with F. Both collided with the weaning process. T was off the breast too soon because of supply issues. F was down to 3 sessions a day by 12 months and that is when it came back.

DD1 was exclusively BFed. Even so, AF returned at 6 months. :nono:
It may have coincided with introducing solids, or maybe with my pumping more since I went back to work part-time. She nursed till 18 months and I definitely had lower supply and sore nipples when I had my period.

DD2 is 4 months and EBFed. I work from home PT but mostly nurse rather than pump. I am hoping and praying to delay the return of AF as long as possible. I can't believe some of you lucked out and got 2 years without a period!
